The Britannia based Ipswich team of Andy Warner, Andy Holmes, Ian Brown, and Ken and Mark Lewis successfully retained the Colchester Team Handicap KO Cup, but once again were runners up in the Kiltie Cup, the unique ‘double’ in the Colchester & District TT League cup competitions eluding the squad for the second consecutive season. In the league, Ipswich finished in fifth place. However, it should be noted that with the league operating a strict ‘no match re-arrangements’ policy – all matches having to be played on the scheduled night/date, the team had to conceded no fewer than 30 points, owing to a lack of player availability as a result of the players in the squad having other TT league, work/business commitments, and illness and this clearly had a considerable effect on the overall league table. Had the team won just two thirds of the points conceded, which in reality was a distinct pobability, they would have repeated last years achievement of finishing in runners up spot. |
