The Venue
The current building designed by local architects "Birkin-Haward" is a geodesic
"dome" (from which it takes its name). It was built specifically for the club
thus providing a purpose built facility.
The unusual "dome" shape allows an enormous amount of head-room to give the
ideal playing conditions. The available playing area is about 18x12 meters which
is divisible into a number of configurations by movable nets suspended from
wires about three metres above the floor. Illumination is by specialised two per
table overhead lights.
This layout meets the highest standards set by the ETTA and gives the best
playing conditions available locally. Our equipment consists mainly of
"rollaway" tables manufactured by Donic and Butterfly. For the top-level matches
the building can be devided into two international sized netted courts meeting
ETTA Four-Star standard. For practice and social play the venue can cope with
five tables.
There are also kitchen and shower facilities available.
